You get out, what you put in..... So you measure your coffee right? You make sure that you have weighted out the specific amount of coffee you need to produce that perfect cup over and over again, but for some reason it always comes out a little different. Sound familiar? Well, while what I will say next may seem like a simple idea, most are shocked by the logic as it is something we rarely think of as coffee drinkers. Ready?! Ok....here comes the big idea.....Water matters!.....The ideal water to coffee ratio is 17 - 1. So if you use 12.5 grams of coffee, 212.5 grams of water would make the PERFECT cup of Joe! Less than 212.5 grams would produce an under-extracted cup (thick and bitter) and over that sweet spot would produce an over-extracted cup (thin and watery). Obviously, a couple G's off doesn't matter drastically to our taste buds, but go over 10gs off and now you begin to notice the subtle differences. So next time you pour a cup of Joe, take the extra time for yourself to produce a consistent, PERFECT cup of joe!
